In fact, the high-specification range offers quality that is a vast step away from the nearest high street lighting options, and this isn’t just down to the originality of the designs (though it certainly helps!). What else sets the collection apart? The answer must be the wealth of delightful details to be found throughout.
Hand-dyed silk: the red onion drum shade
The Storm collection’s red onion hand-dyed silk drum shade features silk that has been specially treated with locally-sourced red onion skins, bundled around iron in a fascinating dying process which yields flourishes of natural colours and patterns. For those searching a look that is utterly organic and naturally unique, this particular drum shade cannot be outdone.
Each shade is characterised by the flowing nature of its patterns, achieving a look that is both daring and unpredictable, but completely consistent in its progressions of earthy colour tones and well-suited to a range of décor stylings, from minimalist to sumptuous.
Although the silk is dyed through an all-natural process, the shades are particularly resilient and keep their vibrancy season after season. The drum, which can be used either as a pendant or on a lamp base, is available in three sizes, as well as styled into a three-shade pendant light featuring shades suspended at varying heights to dramatic and beautiful effect.
Inner glow: the blue stripe cone lamp shade

An eco-friendly, water-based finish seals the shades in a satin protective coating, making them strong, easy-to-clean and affording them with exceptional longevity.
Meticulously hand-crafted: the Artisan abstract table lamp
An eye-catching number, the Artisan abstract lamp exemplifies the exacting standards of the expert craftsman. The lamp distinguishes itself in three areas prized here at The Light Yard: sculptural elegance, high quality materials and remarkable eco-credentials.
Constructed from walnut with figured sycamore trim, the table lamp’s intricate pattern of wood formations is made via a meticulous process; its components are individually cut by hand and finished with handmade Artisan wooden fittings. It’s a traditional, time-consuming affair, but the resulting product is well worth the effort.
